Nokia Mobile (Finnish company HMD Global) has just announced the Nokia 6 Android Nougat powered smartphone destined for China. The phone is a first attempt to get the Nokia brand back on the shelves. The smartphone market is very saturated and increasingly commoditised.
Nokia Mobile is capitalising on the renowned Nokia brand to forge a path back into this ultra competitive market. China is the right place to start: it is the world’s largest smartphone market and the second largest growing after India. It wasn’t long ago that Nokia commanded well over 40% of this gargantuan opportunity.
Taking the battle to local OEM’s the Nokia 6 is competing at the lower end of the market where experiences have increasingly been brought to parity with flagship experiences.
For just £200 this is what this iconic brand is bringing to consumers:
- Android 7 Nougat out the box
- Flagship class unibody metal build
- 5.5 inch 2.5D curved 1080p HD screen
- Octa Core Snapdragon CPU
- 4 GB RAM
- 64 GB storage
- Fingerprint scanner
- Fast charging
- Dolby Atmos speakers
- 16 mp rear camera
- 8 mp front camera
- 3000 mAh battery
The combination of the efficient 430 processor and 3000 mAh battery should lead to great battery life and the solid premium build really takes us back to the great Nokia of old.
Expect to see more Nokia devices launching this year as rumours are there’ll be at least 5 or 6 more 🙂
